Nestled into a coastal woodland of West Harpswell, Goose Ledge Garden is an exercise in adaptation and stress.

Thin, sandy soils are prevalent across the site, and water is a seasonal concern. Instead of amending soils, and bringing in rich, compost-heavy material, the plant palette put forth is forced to contend with the conditions.

As is true in all of our gardens, plants are given the opportunity to fight for resources, and develop stronger, longer-lived plant communities.
