GBRLD designs immersive, climate-forward landscapes that sit effortlessly in the surrounding landscape.

  • Thoughtful gardens are not created in a vacuum. GBRLD designs your garden for your landscape, by devoting critical time on site to understand the surrounding context. We step away from the computer, observe what grows naturally in your space, and keep our boots on the ground until the last perennial gets planted. The resulting space sits effortlessly in its surrounding landscape.

  • We can simultaneously enjoy our gardens and be players of ecological support. While the two have been at odds in the past, our collective attitude towards naturalistic spaces is shifting. GBRLD is at the forefront of this change, helping to bring some wild back into our gardens. We know we’ve succeeded when a bird perches on a new planting like it’s always been there. And when you feel compelled to join it.

  • Climate change is moving species north at a rate of 4-6 miles every year. Trees, flowers, and wildlife “native” to our area are being displaced by opportunistic invasive species as weather and climate become less predictable. We’re at a critical juncture that necessitates thoughtful planting design to properly contend with what comes next. GBRLD designs responsible landscapes for our changing world through resilient plant and material choices.

  • A garden ought to be an engaging, vibrant space and a natural extension of home. At its best, a garden is an invitation. A space to begin and end your day, to foster connection, and to enrich your sense of place. When you step into a garden that belongs in its surrounding environment, you inevitably experience a place where you belong, too.
